Erik ten Hag handed down the sentence on the same day it was revealed that the forward has a tense relationship with several of the manager's coaching staff and avoids speaking to them frequently.
Because Ronaldo declined to use a substitute during WedThe Manchester United team has left out Cristiano Ronaldo for Saturday's match versus Chelsea. nesday's 2-0 victory over Tottenham and instead chose to leave the field early, Ten Hag left him off the list.
Ronaldo won't practice with the first team as they get ready for the match at Stamford Bridge since the club administration has approved the decision. He is still required to report at the practice field by Ten Hag.
Given Ronaldo's 37-year-old dissatisfaction with being at the club, it is believed that Ten Hag would approve of Ronaldo leaving in the January transfer window. Although it could be challenging to reach an agreement with another club given the forward's salary of nearly £500,000 a week, chief executive Richard Arnold would support the manager in this.
The player's contract expires in June, so one choice may be to give him a payout equal to roughly half of what he is owed in wages. That would cost roughly £8 million if done right away. Another option would be to permit him to relocate on loan while continuing to pay a portion of his salary.
Ten Hag is aware of Ronaldo's reluctance to interact with some of his close friends. Before the Dutchman took over in the summer, the Portugal international voiced his displeasure with some of the circumstances at the club's Carrington training facility and was paid attention to.
Though his popularity might have been impacted by his Wednesday escape through the Old Trafford tunnel, teammates praised him for this, his professionalism, and his willingness to mentor junior members of the team.
After that, Ten Hag said he hadn't spoken to Ronaldo but would do so the next day. Ronaldo, who planned to leave United in the summer, appeared at Carrington on Thursday to speak with the manager about the incident, and the punishment was then given.
In response to Ten Hag's choice to leave him out, Ronaldo posted a statement on Instagram on Thursday night that acknowledged responsibility but stopped short of offering an apology. In all the teams I've represented, I've always tried to lead by example for the young people who grew up, he wrote.
"Unfortunately, that's not always possible, and occasionally, the stress of the moment wins. At the moment, all I feel like I need to do is keep working hard at Carrington, help out my teammates, and be prepared for anything that may come up. There is no option to give in to the pressure. It was never. We must stand as one as Manchester United. We'll get back together soon."
Ronaldo exited a United game before the final siren for the second time in less than three months. Additionally, he did so after being replaced at halftime of the July friendly against Rayo Vallecano, leaving Old Trafford with a number of players who weren't on the roster for the actual game.
It is understood that Ten Hag stressed that it must never happen again and afterwards claimed that everyone had received reprimands. He is especially upset with Ronaldo's Wednesday activities because they disregarded that message and might be seen as disrespectful of him and the team.
Even though Anthony Martial, Ten Hag's first-choice No. 9, is prone to injury and Marcus Rashford prefers to play on the left, Ten Hag has decided to bench Ronaldo this weekend.
This Season has not really being a that much of a positive season for Cristiano Ronaldo!.
